17th Sunday in Ordinary Time – Year C
Celebrant: Like Abraham, we approach our loving God with bold confidence, bringing the needs of our world to the One who delights in our every prayer.
Reader: For the Church throughout the world: that like Abraham, we may discover anew the courage to approach God as beloved children, abandoning fear and formality for the intimate trust of those who know they are unconditionally loved.
Reader: Lord, hear us. All: Lord, graciously hear us.
Reader: For Pope Leo XIV and all our bishops: that they may lead us away from distant reverence into the childlike boldness that Jesus taught us, helping us to pray “Our Father” as truly as we mean “Our Daddy.”
Reader: Lord, hear us. All: Lord, graciously hear us.
Reader: For our local parish community: that our liturgy, our ministries, and our fellowship may reflect the warmth of a family gathered around a loving Father’s table, where every voice is heard and every concern matters.
Reader: Lord, hear us. All: Lord, graciously hear us.
Reader: For all who feel disconnected from divine love: for those who have known only betraying fathers, absent parents, or broken trust—that they may discover in God the faithful Daddy their hearts have always longed for, the One who will never turn away or let them down.
Reader: Lord, hear us. All: Lord, graciously hear us.
Reader: For our families: that in our homes we may reflect God’s patient love, listening to one another as God listens to us, responding to needs as God responds to ours, creating spaces where love casts out fear and intimacy overcomes distance.
Reader: Lord, hear us. All: Lord, graciously hear us.
Reader: For ourselves: that we may live each day in the freedom of our baptism, knowing we belong completely to our loving God, approaching in prayer not as beggars but as beloved children who are always welcomed, always heard, always held in tender care.
Reader: Lord, hear us. All: Lord, graciously hear us.
Celebrant: Loving Father—our Daddy—you listened patiently as Abraham interceded for strangers, and you listen with the same delight to our prayers today. Grant what we ask in faith, and give us what we need for the journey ahead, through Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.
